Darwinian Challenges

The Sabie River flows through the property of Kruger Park Lodge, but we are separated from it by an electrified fence. The fence is not necessarily to keep the animals out, but to keep the humans in. It was added about ten years ago when a woman taking pictures of hippos, managed to get in between a mother and her calf. The mother hippo killed the woman. They knew it wasn't the hippo's fault when they checked out the images on the woman's camera and saw how close she was. Darwin would understand - natural selection of the dumbest.
We have viewed the hippo pool three or four times - an interesting show, both sight and sound. We have also seen a crocodile along the river and gazelles beside the golf course.

  1. I hope Bud, that you remember my cautionary note to you - "don't get Hippopotomized". In light of your posting, it seems prescient eh?

Greet shot - looking forward to your next posting.
